Québec City city is gorgeous in winter, and nobody enjoys hiding inside for days on end when there are plenty of fun things to do outside. Today’s festive activity is: Ride the Dufferin Slide (les Glissades de la Terrasse)!

Ride the Dufferin Slide (les Glissades de la Terrasse)

Feel the crispy winter wind in your hair as you speed down the three-lane wooded 1-mile long les Glissades de la Terrasse (Dufferin Slide).  Riding the Dufferin Slide is a mandatory winter activity in Québec City. Built on Terrasse Dufferin (Dufferin Terrace) in 1884, prior to the building of Château Frontenac. The Dufferin Slide operated for almost a hundred years before being shut down in 1981. Thankfully, it was reopened in 1992 and has remained a popular winter attraction since.

Perched 82 metres above the boardwalk, the Dufferin Slide offers riders a perfect view of the Saint-Lawrence River, Château Frontenac and Vieux Québec.

Visit the Au 1884 kiosk, located in the gazebo next to Fairmont Château Frontenac, to rent a long wooden toboggan, then pull it behind you as you walk to the top of the slide, climb aboard, and speed down the slide. Then do it all over again.
