It’s kinky, right? I mean, who would have sex in a cup? Is that even logistically possible?! Well if the ‘sex’ we’re referring to is, in fact, chocolat chaud (hot chocolate), then yes. In a metaphorical way.

It sounds ridiculous, I know. How on earth can chocolat chaud be sex in a cup?! In my opinion, the same way Québec City can be my super sexy French boyfriend, and Montréal can be my smoking hot French lover. Trust me when I say that I don’t wax poetic about every cup of chocolat chaud that I drink. In fact, I am a bit of a chocolat chaud snob.

It’s Québec’s fault. Québec will open your eyes and expose your tastebuds to the deliciousness of pure authentic hot chocolate. No powders. No water. This is chocolate and cream. And it is orgasmic. Like When Harry Met Sally orgasmic. I am so not even kidding you.

I arrived at Café-Bar Artefact inside Auberge Saint-Antoine and fell in love the moment I stepped into the café bar. The space was small but cosy. Green yellow chairs paired with small round tables, grey cushy banquets paired with rectangular mirrored tables. An eclectic mix of toss cushions, windows adorned with ruby red curtains, and the walls feature artefacts found on the grounds of the hotel (the site of major archaeological finds from the 17th and 18th centuries).

From an interior design standpoint, this hotel café bar was hitting all of my hotspots, and the moment I sat down on a grey banquet, I knew I wanted to come back with my laptop and make this one of my workspace choices in the city.

Sex in a cup: One of the BEST chocolat chauds in Québec CityWhile Café Bar Artefact is a popular spot on Thursday and Friday nights when live music is featured, the real draw is their chocolat chaud — a recipe which changes each year!

After walking around Petit-Champlain and Place Royale in the cold and rain, sipping on a hot cup of pure chocolat chaud reminded me of how I can never drink powdered chocolate ever again. And as I drank, I was sure to tell the waiter that I was limited to visiting once a week. If he sees me more than that, he has to kick me out. My body cannot handle sex in a cup every single day. I can, however, handle it once a week.

That being said, I did go back the very next day with my laptop to work. And I did indulge in more chocolat chaud. I just couldn’t help myself!!

Enjoy Sex in a Cup!
