The year is brand spanking new, and most of us are going strong on our resolutions for 2017, including the one to eat healthier and exercise more often. So, with that in mind, we thought it would be a good idea to fill you in on the best spots in Québec City for healthy food, yoga, and more! Here are our picks for the best healthy eats, and yoga in Québec City.

A new addition to Québec City in 2016, Crudessence is a vegan restaurant and take-away counter. Founded in 2006 (in Montréal) by David Côté and Mathieu Gallant, Crudessence offers dishes that are 100% organic, gluten-free, and vegan. And the best part is that everything is homemade! As a carnivore, it is rare that I actually enjoy eating in a vegan restaurant as the food is often bland and way too dense; thankfully Crudessence is delicious.
Crudessence also offers culinary demos in French. They have a yummy cookbook, Crudessence, which you can buy as well, it is in french, but we just use a translation app. 😉
Namaste Yoga Montcalm
45, boulevard René-Lévesque Est

While there are several Namaste Yoga locations in Québec City, we are fans of the studio in Montcalm. The studio is open 30 mins before a class starts, as well as an additional 30 mins after it ends. Participate in classes such as: Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa, Power Yoga, Yin Yoga, Pilates, Yoga Aérien and Essentrics.
Classes cost $16 each, however there are quite a few extra options like monthly passes ($64.95) and session packages ($75 for 5 classes). For more information on fees, click here.
Le Soixante 5

Not located in Québec City, Le Soixante 5 is just a short ferry ride (and walk) away, and should not be missed. A delicious vegetarian restaurant in Lévis, Chef Geneviève Brunet has created a vegetarian experience that even a carnivore would love. We also love that they offer a vegetarian Sunday brunch! Ride the Québec-Lévis ferry, then walk up the hill for a yummy meal. On your way back to Québec City, be sure to take photos of the city’s beautiful skyline.

One of the more well known yoga studios in Québec City, Yoga Fitness has three locations: Sainte-Foy, Saint-Roch, and Lebourgneuf; and they are very welcoming to novices as well as those who are yoga enthusiasts. They offer a wide variety of classes: Hot Yoga, Bikram, Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, Slow Flow, Pilates and a few others. A single class costs $18, however, they also have packages for those who wish to attend 10 classes, etc. To be honest, if you come to Québec City a few times a year, it is a better deal to buy a one year pass for $100. Le Monastère des Augustines

Once a monastery, for the Augustine nuns who arrived in Québec City in 1639 to establish medical care for the colony of New France, Le Monastère des Augustines is now an auberge (hotel), museum, and wellness centre with a deliciously healthy restaurant. The restaurant is open to those who stay at the auberge, as well as those looking for a place to enjoy a delightfully healthy meal. Come enjoy lunch or dinner, either way, you will not be disappointed.
When you’re not busy indulging in healthy eats at the restaurant, take a wellness class! Classes cost $15 and are available for awakening, creation vitality, revitalization and inspiration. Le Monastère des Augustines also offers lectures and workshops. A superb health and wellness retreat in the heart of Old Québec.
While there are not a lot of restaurants dedicated solely to vegan or vegetarian diets, most of the restaurants in Québec City offer healthy dishes on their menus that are vegan or vegetarian-friendly. Some of the restaurants that usually have healthy options are: La Planque, OS-Rôtisserie de Quartier (they specialize in rotisseriee chicken, but they have vegetarian dishes on the menu as well!), Batinse, and Métropolitan Eddie Sushi Bar are all good options. As for yoga, several boutique hotels offer yoga classes or space in their gym, so be sure to check with you hotel. Otherwise, we recommend doing a yoga session or two at one of the studios listed above.
